The National Statistical Office (NSO) has been conducting the Business Census and the Industrial Census in every 5 – 10 years, according to the recommendation of the United Nations (UN) to provide the country’s business trade and services and manufacturing industry basic information. The Business trade and Services Census had been conducted 4 times, in 1966, 1988, 2002 and 2017. For The Industrial Census had been conducted 5 times, in 1964, 1997, 2007, 2012 and 2017. Since 2012, the National Statistical Office has adjusted the period of preparation of the Industrial census to every 5 years because the key economic agencies of the country including the National Economics and Social Development Bureau, the Ministry of Commerce, the Office of Industrial Economics and the Bank of Thailand require up-to-date information for analyzing and monitoring the country’s economy both at the national and regional level. In addition, many countries have been conducting their economic census every 5 years. For the year 2022 will mature around 10 years for conducting the 5th Census of Business trade and Services and 5 years for conducting the 6th Census of Industrial.
