43 Chapter 3 Major findings Business and Industrial Census 3.2.1 Persons engaged and remuneration 1) Number of persons engaged In 2021, the workers of the Northeastern region manufacturing establishments, were a total of 747,977 persons. Most (about 328,299 persons or 43.9%) were in establishment 1 – 5 persons (Table B). Considering by division of industry, most of the (about 241,520 persons or 32.3%) worked in the Manufacture of food products. Followed by those who worked in Manufacture of textiles, Manufacture of wearing apparels and Manufacture of wood and products of wood and cork (except furniture); manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials about 16.2 %, 9.2 % and 9 . 1 % respectively. The other divisions of industry not mentioned above had a relatively low proportion of persons engaged, each with not greater than 4.5% of the total. 2) Number of employees In terms of employees of manufacturing establishments, there were totally 51 4 , 566 persons. Most of them worked in the large scale establishment with more than 200 persons engaged, of about 189 , 100 persons or 36.7 % (Table B). 3 . 2 PRINCIPAL STATISTICS
