43 Business and Industrial Census Chapter 3 Major Finding 3.2.1 Persons engaged and remuneration 1) Number of persons engaged In 2021 , the workers of the Northern region manufacturing establishments, were a total of 499 ,856 persons . Most ( about 204,420 persons or 40 .9 %) were in establishments 1 - 5 persons ( Table B ). Considering by division of industry, most of them ( about 153,216 persons or 30 . 7% ) worked in the Manufacture of food products . Followed by those who worked in Manufacture of wood and products of wood and cork ( except furniture ) ; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials , Manufacture of wearing apparels and Manufacture of other non- metallic mineral products about 9 . 7% , 9 . 5% and 7 . 9% respectively . The other divisions of industry not mentioned above had a relatively low proportion of persons engaged, each with not greater than 7.0% of the total . 2) Number of employees In terms of employees of manufacturing establishments, there were totally 352,340 persons .
