43 Business and Industrial Census Chapter 3 Major Finding 3.2.1 Persons engaged and remuneration 1) Number of persons engaged In 2021 , the workers of the Southern region manufacturing establishments, were a total of 329,636 persons . Most ( about 106,603 persons or 32 . 4 %) were in establishments with more than 200 persons ( Table B ). Considering by division of industry, most of them ( about 110,290 persons or 33 . 5 % ) worked in the Manufacture of food products . Followed by those who worked in Manufacture of rubber and plastic products, and Manufacture of wood and products of wood and cork ( except furniture ) ; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials , about 20 . 1% and 14.2% respectively . The other divisions of industry not mentioned above had a relatively low proportion of persons engaged, each with not greater than 6.0 % of the total . 2) Number of employees In terms of employees of manufacturing establishments, there were a total of 263,843 persons .
