47 Business and Industrial Census Chapter 3 Major Finding 3.2.1 Persons engaged and remuneration 1) Number of persons engaged In 2021 , the workers of the Whole Kingdommanufacturing establishments, were a total of 5.3 million persons . Most ( about 2.4 million persons or 45.2%) were in establishments with more than 200 persons ( Table B ). Considering by division of industry, most of them ( about 1 . 1 million persons or 20.6%) worked in the Manufacture of food products . Following by those who worked in the Manufacture of rubber and plastic products , Manufacture of fabricated metal products ( excepts machinery and equipment ) , and Manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products about 8 . 7 % , 7 . 6% and 7 . 4% respectively . The other divisions of industry not mentioned above had a relatively low proportion of persons engaged, each with not greater than 7.2% of the total . 2) Number of employees In terms of employees in manufacturing establishments, there were a total of 4 . 7 million persons .
