The Population Projection of Thailand during 2000 – 2030; the National Economic and Social Development Board, by using data from the 2000 Population and Housing Census, as the base year, has projected number of Thai population during 2000-2030 to study and analyze trends and population changes in demographic areas, i.e. fertility, mortality and migration. With this study an assumption of population composition for its projection in the future can be obtained. Vital Statistics presented in this chapter were obtained from the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health. It showed the data relating to births and deaths. According to the Civil Registration Act, birth must be registered at the Registration Office within 15 days from the date of birth, and deaths must be registered within 24 hours from the time at death or at the time the body found. Temporary stay in the Kingdom. Alien can enter into the Kingdom for a temporary stay, if they are working for diplomatic or consular missions; official duties; and touring, sporting, doing business and investment or other activities related to investment, subject to the provisions of the law on investment promotion; transit journey; persons in charge of the crew of a conveyance coming to port, station or area in the Kingdom; study or observation; mass media; missionary under the concurrence of the Ministries and Departments concerned; scientific research or training or teaching in educational institutes in the Kingdom; skilled handicraft or a specialist; and other activities as prescribed in the Ministerial Regulation. The alien who is allowed to take up residence in the Kingdom must apply for a Residence Certificate from the Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police or from an officer desinated by the Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police within 30 days from the date receiving written notification from a designated officer.
