Other Economic Statistics The other economic statistics presented in this chapter were obtained from the Comptroller-General’s Department, Ministry of Finance, Office of the Civil Service Commission, The Prime Minister’ office, the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority and the Provincial Waterworks Authority The public administrative of the government: presented statistics on number of government officials, government employees who are executing governmental service. Statistics on Civilian Workforce in Thailand; Number of civilian positions, number of government official by sex, level of education and position classification, including number of executive level, permanent employees, temporary employees, government employee and local temporary employees were presented. Waterworks Statistics were obtained form the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority and the Provincial Waterworks Authority. Its statistics present the data about the number of users, volume of production and distribution. There are two main authorities of waterworks; The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority is responsible for the area of Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan; the Provincial Waterworks Authority is responsible for the rest. Logistics Statistics is a key indicator for evaluating a country’s capability in managing its logistics system. Countries with the best practice and development in logistics system, such as the United States of America and Japan, would widely exercise the database on both of logistics and logistics costs at macro and micro levels. As part of continuous efforts since 2004 , the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board has undertaken a study to develop a model to quantify Thailand’s logistics costs. Normally, it comprises three main components as follows: 1 . Transportation Costs 2. Inventory Carrying Costs and Warehousing Costs 3 . Logistics Administration Costs Logistics Management is the process of planning, implementing and controlling the efficient and effective forward and reverse flow and storage of goods, services and related information between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet customers’ requirements.
