การสํารวจการอ านหนังสือของประชากร สํานักงานสถิติแห งชาติเป นผู จัดทํา โดยจัดทําครั้งแรก เมื่อป พ . ศ . 2546 สํารวจเฉพาะการอ านหนังสือของประชากรที่มี อายุตั้งแต 6 ป ขึ้นไป และตั้งแต ป 2551 ได สํารวจเพิ่มเรื่อง การอ านหนังสือของเด็กเล็ก ( ผู ที่มีอายุต่ํากว า 6 ป ) เพื่อ รวบรวมข อมูลสถิติเกี่ยวกับพฤติกรรมการอ านหนังสือของ ประชากร สําหรับใช พัฒนาและส งเสริมให ประชาชนรักการ อ าน ตลอดจนติดตามประเมินผลการดําเนินงานเรื่องดังกล าว การอ านหนังสือของเด็กเล็ก หมายถึง การอ าน หนังสือของเด็กเล็กที่อ านในช วงนอกเวลาเรียนด วยตัวเอง และรวมทั้งที่ผู ใหญ อ านให ฟ งด วย การอ านหนังสือ หมายถึง การอ านหนังสือทุก ประเภทนอกเวลาเรียน นอกเวลาทํางาน แต รวมการอ าน ในช วงเวลาพักการอ านหนังสือรวมทั้งการอ านทางสื่อ อิเล็กทรอนิกส อื่น ๆ เช น อินเทอร เน็ต ซีดี e-book reader ฯลฯ ยกเว น SMS หรือจดหมายอิเล็กทรอนิกส ( E-mail ) The Survey on Reading of Population; National Statistical Office started carrying out this survey in 2003, covering only the population aged 6 years and over. Since 2008 the NSO extended the coverage to cover also the children aged below 6 years. The objectives of the survey are to obtain information regarding reading behavior of the Thai population so as to develop and promote reading behavior, as well as to monitor and evaluate of the related programs. Reading of the children aged below 6 years refers to the children’s reading themselves out of study times, including the adults’ reading for them. Reading refers to reading all kinds of books out of study time and working hours, including reading via electronic media, i.e. internet, CD except, SMS and E-mail. 107 Education Statistics
