การประมงทะเล รวมถึงการเพาะเลี้ยงชายฝ ง ซึ่งเป นผลผลิตหลักของประเทศ การจําแนกสัตว น้ําทะเล ตามที่อยู อาศัยและกลุ ม ดังนี้คือ ปลาผิวน้ํา ปลาหน าดิน และสัตว ทะเลประเภทไม มีกระดูกสันหลัง หรือสัตว น้ําอื่นๆ แหล งทําการประมงของไทย กระทําทั้งในบริเวณอ าวไทย และฝ งทะเลอันดามัน ส วนการประมงนอกน านน้ํา ได แก แหล งประมงในน านน้ําสากล นอกฝ งประเทศเพื่อนบ านใน ภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต และภูมิภาคเอเชียใต สําหรับ การเพาะเลี้ยงชายฝ ง ได แก การเพาะเลี้ยงในแหล งน้ํากร อย ตามบริเวณพื้นที่ชายฝ ง ปากแม น้ํา ลําคลอง และทะเลสาบ พื้นที่ที่น้ําทะเลท วมถึงบริเวณที่ดอนชายน้ํา และป าไม ชายเลน ที่เสื่อมสภาพ และบริเวณน้ําตื้นชายฝ ง การประมงทะเล นับว ามีการขยายตัวอย างต อเนื่อง โดยเฉพาะการทําการประมงนอกน านน้ําได เพิ่มมากขึ้น เนื่องจากประเทศเพื่อนบ านมีการผ อนผันให เรือประมงไทย เข าไปจับสัตว น้ํา โดยคิดค าธรรมเนียม หรือเข าร วมทุนทํา การประมงกับเจ าของทรัพยากร ตลอดจนพิจารณาจัดหา มาตรการอนุรักษ ฟ นฟูปร ะมงทะ เ ล ให ได ผล อีกทั้ง การเพาะเลี้ยงชายฝ ง ได เข ามามีบทบาทในการเพิ่มปริมาณ สัตว น้ํามากขึ้น ตามลําดับ อาทิ เช น การเพาะเลี้ยงกุ งทะเล โดยเฉพาะอย างยิ่งกุ งกุลาดํา สํามะโนการเกษตร สํานักงานสถิติแห งชาติ ได จัดทําสํามะโนการเกษตรมาแล ว 5 ครั้ง โดยครั้งแรก จัดทําเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2493 และถัดมาใน พ.ศ. 2506 2521 2536 และ 2546 ตามลําดับซึ่งเป นการจัดทําทุก 10 ป ตามข อ เ สนอแนะขององค การอาหารและ เ กษตรแห ง สหประชาชาติ (FAO) สํามะโนการเกษตร พ.ศ. 2556 นี้เป น Marine fisheries and coastal aquaculture are the main fishery production of the country. Marine fishery resources are divided into 3 groups, i.e. pelagic fishery resources, demersal fishery resources, and invertebrates or other aquatic animals. Two main areas of Thai fisheries are the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea Coast. As for deep sea fishery, it is usually done in Southeast Asian country zone and South Asian zone. Coastal aquaculture is the activity operating along the sea shore, estuarine areas, canals, lakes inundation areas, mangrove areas, and shallow areas near the sea shore. Marine fishery output has smoothly continued expanding due to the factors: the increased fishing outside Thai territorial waters as neighboring countries allowed Thai fishing boats to fish in their waters either based on payment of fees or joint investment projects and the successful on implementation of measures to conserve and restore of the resources including the rapid expansion of coastal farming, especially the cultured giant tiger prawn. Agricultural Census: National Statistical Office conducted the first agricultural census in 1950 , 1963 , 1978 , 1993 and 2003 , respectively. Agricultural Census takes place every 10 years with the recommendations of the Food and Agriculture organization of the United Nations (FAO).
