กำรทะเบียนรำษฎร์ ที่กำรเกิดจะต้องแจ้งต่อสำนักทะเบียน ภำยใน 15 วัน นับแต่วันที่เกิด และกำรตำยจะต้องแจ้งต่อ สำนักทะเบียนภำยใน 24 ชั่วโมงนับแต่เวลำตำยหรือพบศพ ส่วนกำรตำยของทำรกในครรภ์ ปัจจุบันกฎหมำยมิได้ กำหนดให้ต้องแจ้งกำรจดทะเบียนรำษฎร์ การส ารวจการย้ายถิ่นของประชากร สำนักงำน สถิติแห่งชำติ ได้เริ่มด ำเนินกำรสำรวจกำรย้ำยถิ่นของ ประชำกรครั้งแรกในปี 2517 โดยท ำกำรสำรวจเฉพำะ กำรย้ำยเข้ำสู่กรุงเทพมหำนคร ต่อมำในปี 2526 - 2533 ได้ขยำยขอบข่ำยกำรสำรวจเป็นกำรย้ำยเข้ำสู่จังหวัดที่อยู่ใน เขตปริมณฑลของกรุงเทพมหำนคร และบำงจังหวัดในส่วน ภูมิภำคซึ่ง กำหนดให้เป็นเมืองหลักในกำรพัฒนำ และตั้งแต่ ปี 2535 จนถึงปีปัจจุบัน ได้ขยำยขอบข่ำยกำรสำรวจ ให้ครอบคลุมทั่วทั้งประเทศ โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อรวบรวม ข้อมูลพื้นฐำนด้ำนประชำกรและสังคมของผู้ย้ำยถิ่น สำหรับ นำ ไปใช้ในกำรติดตำมสถำนกำรณ์ กำรย้ำยถิ่นของ ประชำกร เพื่อนำไปประกอบในกำร กำหนดนโยบำย และ จัดท ำแผนเกี่ยวกับกำรกระจำยตัวและกำรตั้งถิ่นฐำนของ ประชำกร ในแผนพัฒนำเศรษฐกิจและสังคมแห่งชำติ ตลอดจนใช้เป็นแนวทำงในกำรวำงแผนพัฒนำโครงกำรต่ำงๆ และแก้ไขปัญหำที่เกิดจำกกำรย้ำยถิ่นของประชำกร การเข้ามาในราชอาณาจักรชั่วคราว คนต่ำ งด้ำ วที่จ ะ เ ข้ำมำ ใ นรำชอำณำจักร เ ป็น กำรชั่วครำว ได้ จะต้อง เ ข้ำมำ เพื่อกำรปฏิบัติหน้ำที่ ทำงรำชกำร กำรทูตหรือกงสุล กำรท่องเที่ยว กำรเล่นกีฬำ ธุรกิจกำรลงทุน หรือกำรอื่นที่เกี่ยวกับกำรลงทุนภำยใต้ บังคับกฎหมำยส่งเสริมกำรลงทุน หรือกำรลงทุนที่ได้รับ ควำมเห็นชอบจำกกระทรวง ทบวง กรมที่เกี่ยวข้อง กำรเดินทำง ผ่ำนรำชอำณำจักร กำรเป็นผู้ควบคุมพำหนะหรือคน ประจำพำหนะที่เข้ำมำยังสถำนีหรือท้องที่ในรำชอำณำจักร กำ รศึกษ ำ หรือดูง ำน กำ รปฏิบัติหน้ำที่สื่อมวลชน กำรเผยแพร่ศำสนำที่ได้รับควำมเห็นชอบจำกกระทรวง กรม on using the Civil Registration database of the Provincial Administration Department, Ministry of Interior.
