Economy Thailand is regarded as a mix-typed economy, the major economic of the country are mostly based on industry, tourism, service and natural resource. Overall picture of the Thai economy in 2022 ; the GDP (at Current Market Prices) of country was 17,370.2 billion baht. For an export, its value was amounted of 9,944.3 billion baht, whereas the value of import was 10,647.0 billion baht. Agriculture: Thailand is the no. 1 exporter of rubber, however, the other crops, namely rice, vegetable and fruit are also exported. Thailand is as well famous in livestock, i.e. cow, pig, poultry, fresh water fish, and marine fishery. Industry: Agro-industry, textile, electric appliance and automobiles are Thai outstanding industrial exports. Tourism makes up a very high income of Thailand due to an existence of many tourist attractions and best service of the luxurious hotels in every part of the country, especially in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Andaman Sea coast. Natural resources: It has the important natural resources, such as limestone, gypsum, zinc, iron, tin, lead, marble, silica sand, feldspar, kaolin, fluorite, potash, gems, coal, oil shale and natural gas, etc. The National Economic and Social Development Plan is significant and important in determining the country’s economic and social development direction. Currently, the government development plan is undertaking the National Economic and Social Development Plan No. 13, 2023- 2027 by determining performance in accordance with the mentioned period. The driving and the planning of the country’s development was set within the principles of the “Sufficiency Economy Philosophy” to achieve goals in various dimensions under concrete strategies. The development objectives shall move forward in following the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and must conform to the world sustainable development goal; SDGs which will lead the country’s economic growth in the midst of a harmonious, modern, and progressive society along with maintaining and balancing the utilization of the environment in the long term. Steadily strengthening Thailand itself internally in order to be stable among surrounding uncertainties and to achieve the long-term 20 -year National Strategy to transform to Hi-Value and Sustainable Thailand. -16-
