เขตปริมณฑลของกรุงเทพมหานคร และบางจังหวัดในส วน ภูมิภาคซึ่งกําหนดให เป นเมืองหลักในการพัฒนา และตั้งแต ป 2535 จนถึงป ป จจุบัน ได ขยายขอบข ายการสํารวจ ให ครอบคลุมทั่วทั้งประเทศ โดยมีวัตถุประสงค เพื่อรวบรวม ข อมูลพื้นฐานด านประชากรและสังคมของผู ย ายถิ่น สําหรับ นํา ไปใ ช ในการติดตามสถานการณ การย ายถิ่นของ ประชากร เพื่อนําไปประกอบในการกําหนดนโยบาย และ จัดทําแผนเกี่ยวกับการกระจายตัวและการตั้งถิ่นฐานของ ปร ะชากร ในแผนพัฒนา เ ศรษฐกิจและสังคมแห งชาติ ตลอดจนใช เป นแนวทางในการวางแผนพัฒนาโครงการต างๆ และแก ไขป ญหาที่เกิดจากการย ายถิ่นของประชากร การเข ามาในราชอาณาจักรชั่วคราว คนต า ง ด า ว ที่จ ะ เ ข า ม า ใ นร า ช อ าณา จัก ร เ ป น การชั่ วคร าว ไ ด จ ะต อง เ ข ามา เ พื่อการปฏิบัติหน าที่ ทางราชการ การทูตหรือกงสุล การท องเที่ยว การเล นกีฬา ธุรกิจการลงทุน หรือการอื่นที่เกี่ยวกับการลงทุนภายใต บังคับกฎหมายส งเสริมการลงทุน หรือการลงทุนที่ได รับ ความเห็นชอบจากกระทรวง ทบวง กรมที่เกี่ยวข อง การเดินทาง ผ านราชอาณาจักร การ เป นผู ควบคุมพาหนะหรือคน ประจําพาหนะที่เข ามายังสถานีหรือท องที่ในราชอาณาจักร กา ร ศึกษ า หรื อดู ง า น ก า รปฏิบัติหน  า ที่ สื่ อม ว ล ช น การ เ ผยแพร  ศาสนาที่ได รับความเห็นชอบจากกระทรวง กรม ที่เกี่ยวข อง การค นคว าทางวิทยาศาสตร หรือฝ กสอน ในสถาบันการค นคว าหรือสถาบันการศึกษาในราชอาณาจักร การปฏิบัติงานด านช างฝ มือหรือผู เชี่ยวชาญ และการอื่น ตามที่กําหนดในกฎกระทรวง ค นต า ง ด า ว ซึ่ ง ไ ด รั บ อ นุญา ต ใ ห มีถิ่ นที่ อ ยู ใ น ร า ชอ าณา จักร จ ะ ต อ ง ขอรับ ใ บสํ าคัญถิ่นที่อยู จ าก ผู บัญชาการตํารวจแห งชาติ หรือพนักงานเจ าหน าที่ซึ่ง ผู บัญชาการตํารวจแห งชาติมอบหมายไว เป นหลักฐาน ภายในเวลา 30 วันนับแต วันที่ได รับแจ งจากพนักงาน เจ าหน าที่เป นลายลักษณ อักษร some major provinces Since 1992 to the present, the survey has covered the migrating people nationwide.
