Industrial Statistics
Industrial statistics presented in this chapter were obtained from the Department of
industrial Works, the Office of the Board of Investment, the Department of Primary Industry and
Mines, Ministry of Industry and the National Statistical Office.
Industrial
Its statistics contains data on operated industrial establishment as permitted
by Ministry of industry in accordance with Factory Act B.E.
2535
(
1992)
, capital and number of
persons engaged.
Investment
The collection of foreign investment statistics in Thailand was processed in
a manner close to IMF definition. The IMF gives the definition of FDI as foreign investment in
which foreign investor invests in the other country and with administrative participation in that
business. In addition, foreign investor must hold at least
10
% of capital in that business as well.
Minerals
At present, Thailand produces more than
40
kinds of minerals. Most of
minerals used in the domestic consumption were limestone (for cement industry), lignite, shale
(for industry), gypsum, rock salt, glass sand, kaolin, ball clay, feldspar and dolomite, etc.
Constructions
The National Statistical Office has conducted a
Constructions Area
Survey once a year since
1966.
The survey covers all permitted building constructions including
additional and alterational constructions in every province around the country.
New Construction means all new buildings whether or not they are rebuilt.
Addition and alteration means any changes of building that its boundary, type, shape,
ratio and area are innovated and have effect on its original form.
