Technology (ICT) Statistics
Communication statistics presented in this chapter have been derived for The Thailand Post
Company Limited, the CAT Telecom Public Company Limited, the TOT Corporation Public Company
Limited and National Statistical Office.
The Communications Authority of Thailand is a state enterprise under the Ministry of Information
and Communication Technology, established by the Communications Authority of Thailand Act B.E.
2519
on February
25, 1977
. It is responsible for the provision of domestic and international postal, monetary
and telecommunication services to the public, excepting domestic telephone service which is under the
responsibility of the Telephone Organization of Thailand.

, the Communications Authority of Thailand is transformed their
performance of function as well as the assets and liabilities into the CAT Telecom Public Company Limited
and Thailand Post Company Limited.
The Telephone Organization of Thailand was established on February
24, 1954
and took over all
the provincial telephone services form the Post and Telegraph Department on October
1, 1961
. The
Metropolitan Telecommunications Area means the telephone areas in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani
and Samut Prakan and the Provincial Telecommunications Area means the telephone areas in other
provinces.

1999
, the Telecom Asia Corporation Limited as being the True Corporation Limited in present
has been given concessions form the Telephone Organization of Thailand, the personal communications
telephone (TCT) services has been operated for subscribers in Metropolitan Telecommunication Area by
using the same number of residence for outdoor usage.

, the Telephone Organization of Thailand is transformed their performance or function as
well as the assets and liabilities into the TOT Corporation Public Company Limited.
The data of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) presented in this chapter has been
from the National Statistical Office.
Its has presented the data regarding the use of communication technology equipments both of in
household and establishment by counting individual household and special household. The establishment
have included all municipal establishment except the stalls that have at least one worker in whole kingdom.
