Energy Statistics
Energy statistics presented in this chapter were obtained from the Department of Alternative
Energy Development and Efficiency, the Department of Energy Business, Ministry of Energy, the
Metropolitan Electricity Authority and the Provincial Electricity Authority.
Electricity;
the electric statistics were presented the data about installation, generation, sales of
electricity, revenues and number of customers. There are two main authorities on electric work; the
Metropolitan Electricity Authority is responsible for the area of Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan;
the Provincial Electricity Authority is responsible for the rest areas.
Energy Statistics

Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, Ministry of
Energy has compiled information on production, supply management of primary energy, importing
crude oil and petrol, use of energy and amount of petrol sales and other related detailed information.
Commercial energy refers to a big source of energy which has economical value, i.e. oil, natural
gas, or coal, these kinds energy, not only cause high amount of pollution (especially coal) but also
depleted energy. Moreover, commercial energy includes energy transformed, such as electricity and
petroleum products.
Renewable Energy refers to energy from electricity current which continue and replete in the
environment. Sources of renewable energy, such as, Solar cell, Wind turbine, Water tide, geothermal,
Biomass, Biogas or Garbage.
Total primary energy supply = Domestic production + Import – Export +/- Stock change.
