Health statistics
were obtained from Bureau of Policy and Strategy, Epidemiology
Division, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health and the National Statistical
Office.
People’s good health is major factor on the development and stability of country. Further-
more, the Ninth National Economic and Social Development Plan (B.E.
2545-2549
) emphasize on
strengthening the potential of people in physical and mental for adapting the performance on
health by consumption as well as exercising. On account of development on people as good and
perfect health, it is essential to have data on health as well as the behaviors concerned.
Public health statistics
Its statistics concern various areas namely the number of
hospital, health personnel and public health. They were classified according to the authorities
concerned from government agencies, state enterprises and private units. In addition, its
statistics reflect on the relation ratio between health resources and country’s people. Health
statistics compiling by Bureau of Policy and Strategy are derived from the Provincial Public
Health Office, questionnaire and the authorities concerned.
The Cigarette Smoking and Alcoholic Drinking Behavior Survey
It is conducted by
the National Statistic Office with the main objective of collecting basic information on population
of the cigarette smoking and alcoholic drinking behavior such as number of smoking population
and beginning age for smoking and drinking, etc.
