Water transport, in Bangkok, the Chao Phraya River is a major transportation artery, with
ferries, waterway taxis (the Chao Phraya Express) and long-tailed boats. Moreover there is the
Khlong Saen Saeb boat service, which provides fast, inexpensive transport in central Bangkok.
Ferry service between hundreds of islands and the mainland is available, as well as, across
navigable rivers, such as Chao Phraya and Mae Khong.
There are many ports and harbors in Thailand, such as Bangkok, Laem Chabang (near Sri
Racha), Phuket (Patong) and Songkhla.
Social
Language:
The official language of Thailand is the Thai, It is the principal language of
education and government and spoken through out the country. Several other dialects also exist and
coincide with the regional designations, namely, Southern Thai and Northern Thai, Northeastern
Thai.
Religion and Culture:
According to the
2008
survey on conditions of social, culture and
mental health, it showed
93.2%
of total populations are Buddhists. Muslims were the second largest
at
5.8%,
Christians, mainly Catholics, were
0.9%
of total population, the rest were Hindus and
Sikhs. Thailand is well-known as “Land of Smiles” as Thai people are friendly and kind and always
provide warm hospitality to foreigners.
Education:
The Thai Government provide well organized school system of for
kindergartens, primary, lower secondary and upper secondary school, numerous vocational colleges,
and universities. Education is compulsory up to and including Grade
9
, and the government provides
free education through to Grade
12
. Numbers of schooling years in Thailand are kindergarten level
start from
3
years old,

years for primary school level, starts from
6
years old,
3
years for lower
secondary school level,
3
years for upper secondary school level to extend to University level for
4
years.
However, students finishing lower secondary school could further their study into vocational
fields.
