, car license and driver’s license permitting were transferred from the Royal Thai
Police Department to the Department of Land Transport, Ministry of Transportation and
Communications.
Air transport
Its statistics has been derived from the Department of Aviation and the
Airports Authority of Thailand. Air transport statistics were obtained the data on the number of
flight, passengers, air freight, air parcel and so on. At present, Thailand has thirty-three local
airports including six international airports.

Its statistics was presented the data about under Construction,
under standard and under maintenance.

The classification of the highway under the National Highway Act B.E.

includes the following

categories.
Special highways or Motorways
These are roads with especially high standards of
design and prepared to increasing traffic on the important routes.
National highways
Roads which are of primary importance to the economic
development, administration and defence.
Rural roads
There are minor roads of local significance only.
Municipal highways
All major road in areas governed by municipal authority such as
cities, towns.
Sukhapiban Roads
Roads in small municipal areas such as districts and sub-districts.
Concession highways
A special road, in which the government provided for public use.
The Department of Highways is responsible for only

categories: special highways,
national highways and concession highways.
