was enacted for social suitability so that the private
sector can establish the institutes for higher education, and was abrogated in order to adjust the Private
College Law. The Private Higher Education Act B.E.
2522
(1979)
was promulgated until
1992.
As for
present situation suitability the Private Higher Education Act B.E.
2522
(B.E.
2535
Revision) has been
promulgated until now. The Private Higher Education Institutes, according to this Act, are divided into

types: universities, institutes and colleges.
Statistics on higher education were obtained from Commission on Higher Education, that
presented statistics data on student enrollments, graduates and teachers, etc., but excluded the
Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, Royal Navy Academy, Royal Airforce Academy, Police
Academy and Asian Institute of Technology.
The Reading Behavior of Population Survey conducted by the National Statistical Office with
the main objective of collecting data on the number of population that read book and their reading
behavior. It is coverage of person who living in individual household all over the country.
Religion and cultural information are obtained from The Religion Affairs Department, Ministry
of Culture, Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Commerce and the National Statistical
Office.
Prosperous culture represents unique features, namely: religion, language, literary, art,
handicraft, dramatic art, music and custom. All these features are inherited from the past until today.
The national culture has been developed from time to time. The question as to sustainability, uniqueness
and adaptibility to changing conditions would depend on social conditions, entire population regardless
of sexes and ages.
Religion-Thai people have right and to choose their religions. Religion is closely related to
culture. Religion is a spiritual milestone of whole population. In addition, religion has important role to
play in promoting good deeds of the people and living with ethic and morality. The major role of
religious advocates is to provide guidance and advice to children to learn of principles of religion.
