The Fixed-Route Bus Operation Survey;
the National Statistical Office firstly conducted
this survey in
1989.
Objective of the survey is to collect basic information, concerning structure and
business operation of fixed-route bus operators, which included licensed operators and sub- contracted
operators, throughout the country.
Licensed fixed route bus operator refers to person who received license to operate fixed route
under Department of Land Transportation, whether licensors have their own vehicles operated in that
route or not.
Sub-contracted operator refers to person or a group of persons, with any forms of operation,
jointly operate with the licensed operators, whether there is an agreement or not.
The Expressway and Rapid Transit Authority
of Thailand
presented data concerning
number of vehicles using express way and revenue from toll fee.
The State Railway of Thailand
was first set up as a government department, however it
afterwards became an autonomous organization as a result of the State Railway Act B.E.
2494 (1951)
,
taking over the business as well as the assets and liabilities of the State Railways Department. The first
inauguration line
commenced in
1892
and the line was then extended to Nakhon Ratchasima in
1900

with a distance of

kilometers. For all the earlier lines, the railway tracts used the

feet

inches
gauge system. From the year
1900
onwards, the construction of the Southern main line had brought
into the one meter gauge system, the intention of this was to link Thailand with Malaysia and the Union
of Myanmar. The conversion to meter gauge system was decided upon in
1919
, and completed in April
1930
.
Air transport;
these statistics has been derived from the Department of Aviation and
Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited. Air transport statistics were the number of flights,
passengers, air freight, air parcel and so on. At present, there are thirty-eight local airports including six
international airports in Thailand.
