5.2.2 Social Welfare ( for the Elderly,
the Disabled and the Vulnerable
Persons)
For the social welfare management
( for the Elderly, the Disabled and the
Vulnerable
Persons), the public sectors and
relevant agencies have recognized and
prioritized all the measures and policies on
social welfare these groups of people. More
importantly, the government has puts very
much effort in covering all the targeted
groups and making the measures and
policies sustainable. The Welfares provided
are in various forms i.e. financial support,
dwelling or income for earning in daily life.
Due to the changes of economic,
social
and
environment
including
demographic changes, it is however affecting
the social welfare measures and policies of
the government. For example, Thailand is
now approaching to the aging society, there
were 8.1 million persons of the elderly in
2017 ; increased of about 4.7 hundred
thousand persons within 3 years, budget for
monthly cost of living provided to the
elderly was nearly double. In this regard, the
Thai government has to allocate much more
budget to support these vulnerable groups
of people in the future.
