Gender
With more potential, more pro-
active in accessing information and in
participating in socio economic and political
situations of the country than before,
women currently are taking more important
roles in the country’s development
compared to the past. They share not only
a lead role in the family as motherhood but
also a working role for a family support.
However, social status of women in some
societies is still not treated as equally as
men. Moreover, problems of violence
against women, sexual harassment still exist
and need to be solved.
This chapter presents gender
statistics in various dimensions, such as
health, education, work and social
status etc., to reflect a similarity and
differentiation between men and
women. The gender statistics can help
policy makers to better understand the
current situations which will lead to a
proper policy making so as to provide
effective services in related dimensions.
