4.1 Birth and Death
In the past, Thailand had succeeded
implementing in family planning policy;
a number of births have been dramatically
declined. Moreover, the rapid changes in
economic and social have impacts on social
values of Thai people on a limit number of
children, age at first marriage and being
single. However, during the past 3-4 years
the birth rate has increased to 13.4 persons
per 1,000 population from 12.0 persons,
since recently, there was an emerging social
issue on teen mum in Thailand. It was
found that there was an increase up to
about 1% of teen mum with below 20 years
(15.5% in 2008 to 16.6% in 2012).
For the death rate, it increased from
6.5 persons per 1,000 population in 2010 to
6.9 persons per 1,000 population in 2014,
with the major causes of deaths, such as
cancer, accident, heart diseases, high blood
pressure and stroke respectively.
