1.2.2 ความเปนเมือง
ขอมู ลตั วชี้วั ดการกระจายตั วและความ
หนาแนนของประชากรที ่อาศัยอยูในเขตเมืองและ
เขตชนบท มี ความสําคั ญอยางยิ่งต อการพัฒนา
ประเทศ เป นปจจั ยหลักใหภาครั ฐสามารถจัดหา
โครงสรางพื้นฐาน สาธารณูปโภคตางๆ และจัดสรร
ทรั พยากรให แตละพื ้นที ่ไดอยางเหมาะสม ส วน
ภาคเ อกชนสามารถว างแผนกา รตลาดและ
ประกอบธุรกิจไดตรงตามกลุมเป าหมาย

เปลี ่ยนแปลงหลักๆ ที ่สงผลตอการกระจายตัวของ
ประชากรที่อาศัยอยูในเขตเทศบาลและเขตชนบท
เริ่มจากนโยบายการกระจายอํ านาจรัฐสูท องถิ่น
ตั้งแตป 2540 ตอมาในป 2543 มีการยกฐานะเขต
สุขาภิบาลซึ ่งมีอยู ประมาณ 1,000 แหงใหเปนเขต
เทศบาล สงผลให จํานวนประชากรในเขตเทศบาล
เพิ่มขึ้น จากขอมูลสํามะโนประชากร พ.ศ. 2543
มี จํานวนประชากรในเขตเทศบาล รอยละ 31.1
และในป 2557 เพิ่มขึ้นเปนรอยละ 43.7
1.2.2 Urbanization
Indicators on population distribution
and population density in urban and rural
area are important for guiding the public
sector in setting up plans and policies for
the infrastructure and appropriate allocating
the resources to each area. The private
sector could also be able to use these
indicators to set up marketing plan for their
businesses.
In the last two decades, the major
change which affected the distribution of
the population living in municipal and rural
areas were local empowerment policy since
1997, with this in 2000 about 1,000 sanitary
districts were upgraded to be municipal
areas led to an increase of population
number in municipal areas. The results of
the 2000 Population and Housing Census
confirmed that there were up to 31.1% of
population in municipal area, (in 2000) and
up to 43.7% in 2014.
